Gutter Section Replacement

To replace sections of gutter that are bent dented or rusted beyond repair.

Place a 4 x 4 block of wood inside the good section of gutter next to the section you will be removing. Apply plastic roofing cement step 3. When drilling try to use the same holes from the old gutter corner. Remove any retainers and or connectors from the section of gutter that needs replacing.

Check the downspout step 4. With gutter replacement you can prevent water from running behind your gutters by installing a metal gutter apron flashing under the shingles and over the back edge of the gutter. If your home center or hardware store doesn t sell pre bent flashing ask an aluminum siding contractor or local sheet metal fabricator to bend some for you. Most home centers sell white and brown sections of gutters as well as slip joints to tie them together.

Then apply a sealant to the joints sparingly so water doesn t become trapped. Just replace the damaged section. Clean the area around the leak step 2. Seamless gutter you don t need to replace the whole thing.

Apply silicone and reassemble. If your gutters are white or brown adding a section of gutter to an existing section is easy. Position the new corner and drill holes for the pop blind rivets. Clean the downspout joints and replace the gaskets step 5.
